Visas

Most foreign nationals are required to have entry visas to travel to the Russian Federation. A visa to the Russian Federation is a document, permitting to stay in Russia for a specific period of time. A visa lists entry/exit dates, your vital information, passport details and some information about the inviting party.

The Organizing Committee of the WJC Sochi 2016 is working in close cooperation with the Russian Foreign Ministry to simplify visa application procedures for the participants. The specific steps for visa application are outlined below. All Russian Consulates throughout the world will be informed of the special facilitated visa for participants and guests of the WJC Sochi 2016.

Please note that the application requirements may vary according to the country in which you make your application so it is VERY IMPORTANT that you check the details before you proceed with your application and that you make your application as early as possible.

STEP 1 – OBTAIN A VISA INVITATION LETTER FROM THE LOC

For each individual or group who will require a visa the attached information form should be completed. Please note ALL sections must be filled in or the letter cannot be prepared.

  1. Make sure that each passport has two blank visa-designated pages.
  2. Make sure that the expiry date of the passport is at least six months after the last day of the expected stay in Russia.
  3. If the passport does not meet these two requirements, a new passport must be obtained or the existing one is to be prolonged before you can request the invitation letter.

  1. You are required to indicate in which consulate you will make your application. Follow this link to find the consular information for Russia: http://www.russianconsulates.com or http://www.russianembassy.net
  2. Please note that the Russian Foreign Ministry has exceptionally agreed to accept applications for single entry visas in any consulate regardless of citizenship. We strongly suggest, nonetheless, that you contact the consulate in advance and carefully check the requirements for that country as these may vary.
  3. Please send your completed form(VISA APPLICATION PROCEDURE WJC Sochi 2016) to zhuravlevala@fgssr.ru

  1. After processing, an electronic invitation letter will be issued and sent to you. You will be able to print as many copies as needed for the members of your group.

STEP 2 - APPLYING FOR THE VISA

  1. Each individual must complete and sign the visa appropriate application form – you must complete all the fields on the form. Please note that there are several different formats of visa application form so you must ensure the applicant completes the correct form in order to avoid delays. Check this on the website or ask the consulate. Link to Visa Application https://visa.kdmid.ru (to proceed you must choose your country and language).

  2. Please mention on the application the reason for visit as the WJC Sochi 2016 .

  3. The form must be accompanied by the valid national passport, the official letter of invitation, two ID photos (the frame size must be 3,5 x 4,5 cm (1 3/8" X 1 3/4") and any additional documentation requested by the consulate where you apply. If you are not sure, please contact the Consulate or look at the website to check.

  4. We advise you deal directly with the Consulate. Do not apply by an agency which can cause confusion and delays.
  5. Please note that one person can deal with multiple applications, no individual presence is required at the consulate.
  6. For countries which do not have a Russian Consulate there are two alternatives:

–      apply in another consulate in another country

–      post application – some consulates of the Russian Federation do accept postal applications you can check this information on the consular website indicated.

Under the law of Russian Federation all the radios, brought to Russian Federation, are to be checked for the conformity with the technical specifications and terms of use permitted in the state.

In order to check teams' radios specifications for the WJC in Sochi all the teams have to complete the radio questionnaire  and send it to zhuravlevala@fgssr.ru  latest until 1.01.2016.

In case if the usage of the teams’ radios, specified in the questionnaire, is not permitted due to the check of conformity – the corresponding NSA will be informed about it in advance and the OC will provide the team free of charge with the number of radios, noted in the teams’ questionnaire.

Those teams, which do not meet the deadline to provide the questionnaire to the OC and bring their radios will be fully responsible for the law violation according to Russian legislation.
